International Fraternity Involvement - Grand Council Member

Tau Kappa Epsilon International Fraternity is a collegiate social fraternity with 290+ chapters across the United States and Canada with over 270,000 lifetime members.

·         Represent the interests of all members of the organization, define success, increase the likelihood that Tau Kappa Epsilon will be successful, and evaluate progress towards these ends.

·         Oversee the Chief Executive Officer.

·         As a member of the Board Development Committee:

o    Reviewed and edited the Board’s Policy Governance Manual to bring it up to date with current policies and practices.

o    Identify and recommend candidates for vacancies on the Board of Directors and Standing Committees.

·         As a member of the Programs Committee:

o    Develop the Key Results Areas for the organization for each year.

o    Evaluate and review the effectiveness of all of the organization's programs.

TKE Educational Foundation - Investments Committee Member
The committee provides guidance to the Investment Advisor and establishes parameters for the investment of TKE Educational Foundation assets.

Monitor the investment results and the performance of the Investment Advisor.

TKE Educational Foundation - Foundation Ambassador
Work with the TKE Educational Foundation (TEF) Development Manager to promote the needs of, and ways to support, the TEF to local fraters.

Washington, DC TKE Alumni Association
The Washington, DC Alumni Association (DCAA) was established in 1984.  Its mission is to aid men in their mental, moral, and social development for life.

The DCAA is a multiple award-winning TKE alumni association, having repeatedly received the Top TKE Alumni Association Award.

Local chapters have been awarded the Top TKE Award numerous times, with many receiving the award consecutive years.

Community Manager for the alumni association's social media presence by posting relevant content to the alumni association's Facebook Fan Page, LinkedIn group, and Twitter feed.

Promote the alumni association using Facebook ads in order to increase membership, as well as use the Facebook Fan Page to update members on events in the Washington, DC area.

Utilize LinkedIn e-mail alerts to proactively locate and reach out to alumni in the Washington, DC area.

Organize special events (annual Founders' Day Celebration, key milestone banquets) that include a cocktail reception followed by a dinner program for up to 100 guests.

TKE Chesapeake Province
Responsible for the success of TKE chapters and colonies in Maryland, Washington, DC, Delaware, and Shepherdstown, WV with a focus being the chapters at American University, the George Washington University, and University of Maryland.

Perform chapter visitations and evaluations to help ensure chapters have fully developed action plans for recruitment, education, and training.  Follow-up with the chapters making sure they meet their goals.

Conduct training sessions at conferences (Province Educational Conferences), interface with chapter officers and board, and provide motivation, innovative ideas, and hands-on support for all levels of membership.

Chapter Volunteer Experience
Promote the Fraternity and provide leadership for the Alpha-Pi, Beta-Delta, Pi-Upsilon, Upsilon-Theta, and Upsilon-Omicron Chapters.

Positions held include Board of Advisors Chairman, Board of Advisors Vice Chairman, Board of Advisors Treasurer, Board of Advisors At-Large Member, and Chapter Advisor.

Attend chapter events and meetings regularly and meet with chapter leadership throughout the academic year to assess their progress towards their goals set at the beginning of the year.

Assist with student interest groups during their petition for charter.

  • Worked closely with the University of Maryland (Beta-Delta), University of Maryland, Baltimore County (Upsilon-Theta), and American University (Upsilon-Omicron) chapters during their petition; chartering chairman for the Upsilon-Theta chapter.

Collaborate with chapters in establishing workable budgets, and monitor the budget throughout the year.

Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Alpha-Pi chapter house owned and operated by the Alpha-Pi Board of Control located in Washington, DC, a few blocks from the White House.

Established residence in a $1.1 million, 30-man house on the 16-house Fraternity Row at the University of Maryland.

  • Successfully negotiated affordable services for chapter members including cleaning, laundry, and catering services.
  • Working with the chapter leadership, established a set of House Rules for all members to adhere to.
  • Drafted a Housing Agreement outlining the guidelines for residing in the house. This document included information pertaining to renting a room in the fraternity house and outlined the expectations of the Board of Advisors and individual members.

Encourage chapters to have strong ongoing campus leadership, which is recognized by frequent awards by the International Fraternity and universities.

  • Chapters have received recognition and numerous awards for community service, chapter size, alumni relations, academic success, philanthropy, and extracurricular activities, as well as being repeatedly awarded the Top TKE Award.
  • Chapters have received top fraternity awards from universities for their campus leadership and outstanding involvement in their respective greek communities.
